Opening the event, Director of the COST Association, Ronald de Bruin told participants
“The most important thing to understand is that COST is an opportunity. It is completely bottom-up, which means that researchers can submit proposals on exactly what they want to focus on, but a big opportunity of COST is that researchers can also join already running research networks and enhance their career by doing so.”
Christer Halen, Policy Administrator for COST, then gave an overview of COST and how researchers could apply, either by submitting their own proposal or by joining existing Actions. He emphasised the open nature and inclusivity of the programme, urging young researchers to take leadership roles within Actions as a way to stand out in their field.
Attendees then learnt about the activities that are funded by COST in a presentation by COST Administration Officer, Jeanette Nchung Oru, and how they could submit a COST Action proposal by COST Science Officer, Dr Deniz Karaca.
