3rd Quantum technology workshop: implementations for space

15/11/2018

Three COST Actions will participate in the workshop Quantum technology: implementations for space organised by the European Space Agency (ESA) together with COST Action QTSpace on 20 and 21 November 2018 in the Netherlands.

The aim of the workshop is to identify possible areas of collaboration for the implementation of quantum technologies in space with the quantum technology commercialisation programmes that have recently emerged within the ESA member states.

The Actions represented at the sessions are: Quantum Technology in SpaceQuantum Technologies with Ultra-Cold Atoms and Nanoscale Quantum Optics.

Professor Mario Agio, chair of the Nanoscale Quantum Optics Action will intervene during the commercialisation session: Opportunities and challenges for quantum communication, sensing and metrology.

Dr. Wolfgang von Klitzing, chair of the Quantum Technology with Ultra-Cold Atoms Action will speak during the Earth and Planetary remote sensing session.

Professor Angelo Bassi, chair of the Quantum Technology in Space Action will participate in the policy session and Professor Mauro Paternostro, vice-chair of the Action is also taking part in the fundamental physics session. A mini workshop on “Quantum Physics in Space” open to all participants will be organised at the end of that session.

Since there are an increasing number of quantum technology commercialisation funding programmes, the sessions will focus on the progress made to highlight new initiatives and collaborations including those made in the emerging markets both institutional and commercial.
