Science communication coordinators

The science communication training’s are practical training’s targeted at the Science Communication Coordinators of a COST Action, who are responsible for dissemination and promotion of their Action network. COST Academy offers training’s on the following topics:

Social media

The social media training focuses on the importance of social media in science communication and how the Action science communication coordinators can best communicate their Action network activities using social media.

Media skills

The practical media skills training focuses on media interviews and building the right message to promote the COST Actions to journalists and media. The training will prepare the participants for interaction with online, print, radio and television journalists and give practical information, exercises, and tips on how to give an effective media interview.

Storytelling

This training focuses on storytelling and writing about the COST Action network to the Action main target groups. Using theory and exercises the training offers the Science communication coordinators knowledge on how to write a story in a way that the journalists are interested in it across different media.

Canva

The Canva training covers everything you need to know about this online graphic design tool. The session includes hands-on activities and effective tips for utilising Canva to create diverse communication materials such as presentations, flyers, infographics, social cards and optimising materials for different platforms.

WordPress

This training guides participants through the essentials of using WordPress, including creating posts and pages, embedding (social) media, search engine optimisation, accessibility, and using different themes and site editors. Through a combination of theoretical insights and hands-on exercises, participants learn how to effectively publish and share information to improve their Action’s online presence.

How to present your research with impact

During this training science communication coordinators will learn how to make an impactful scientific presentation on their Action in a clear and convincing manner, tailored to the needs of the target groups.
