On the 19 th September, The COST Targeted Network “The Voice of Research Administrators – Building a Network of Administrative Excellence – BESTPRAC” presented its four-year outcomes and recommendations for the future.

Attendees at the Brussels based event included the Vice-President of COST, Ms Annette Borchsenius as well as three members of the COST Executive Board, Prof. John Bartzis, Dr Rui Munhá and Mr Emmanuel Pasco-Viel.

COST Association President, Prof. Dr Sierd Cloetingh highlighted to the audience the findings of an external review of BESTPRAC, which noted that it “has been a major development in the European research support capacity, a unique development. This will make a real impact into the future of H2020 and beyond and will be particularly beneficial to the less favoured regions and to early stage administrators in their professional development”.

After a number of participants presented the ways that they had benefitted from their involvement in BESTPRAC, Dr Ronald de Bruin moderated a panel discussion about the Actions’ outcomes and the role of research administrators in the European research landscape. The panel was comprised of representatives of BESTPRAC, the University of Ljubljana, the European University Association and the European Commission.

Dr De Bruin said of the event “nothing is more rewarding than hearing people talk about the benefits they have gained”.
