Joining a COST Action can initiate prospects going beyond the networking opportunities and research advancements. To keep fostering such openings and to encourage researchers to participate in COST activities, COST held an online Info Day on Tuesday 23 February to present and stress the many benefits of pan-European networking.
Dr. Ronald de Bruin, Director of COST Association, kicked-off the Info Day with an introductory note stating amongst others that: “The follow-up success rate for a COST Action in terms of spin-off proposals is close to 40%.”

Following introductions, the COST team provided detailed insights as to how to launch or join a COST Action. Participants had the occasion to learn more about the COST Association, to discover what activities are reimbursed but also to appreciate and understand the procedures to apply. It was also emphasised how COST has adapted its networking tools to the pandemic situation, and has made several virtual settings available to enable Action partners to meet and pursue their activities.
Finally, Prof. Giovanni Tarantino, Chair of COST Action CA 18140 PIMO, took the floor to share his experience and provided concrete insights as a member of a COST Action. One of the added-values highlighted was that the Action allowed the mobility of post-graduate students and early careers investigators.
