COST Action CA16214 The multi-messenger physics and astrophysics of neutron stars (PHAROS) have been awarded the 1st ex-aequo Prize for Scientific Short Film by Ciencia En Acción for their film ‘Pulsars, a tale of cosmic clocks’.
Combining live action and animation, the film aims to share scientific knowledge about the universe with a younger audience. It tells an engaging story about the space travel of a teenage girl with a mysterious lady as she learns about the cosmos, supernovas, and pulsars. The film also addresses the issue of women in science and the role they play in STEM today.
“We wondered how we could tell an engaging story about the cosmos without compromising the accuracy of scientific information, and how we could show the young generation that science is genderless, that it’s not just white old men with glasses. As a result of this reflection, Pulsars emerged.”
