The main objective of Action E36 was to promote the development and application of modelling and simulation techniques in pulp and paper manufacturing processes, in order to e.g. reduce emissions and increase the productivity and cost-efficiency of the processes. The main benefit was hoped to be a better understanding of the mechanisms of the processes and their control loops, to help to find solutions for pending problems in the paper industry: improving the paper quality, optimizing the wet end chemistry, enhancing the runnability and reducing emissions by improving process design, process monitoring and decision support during operation.

In the long run this Action should also contribute to designing superior or new product properties. This book contains the proceedings of the conference of COST Action E36 on 12-14th May 2008 in Madrid.

WINERCOST is a COST Action aiming to merge the efforts of the European research groups working on the Wind Energy Technology (WET) and the pathways to introduce it by means of robust applications to the urban and suburban built environment, thus enhancing the concept of Smart Future Cities. This Action revisits safe, cost-effective and societally accepted wind energy technology for consideration in the design and development of the future urban/suburban habitat. The Workshop “Trends and Challenges for Wind Energy Harvesting “ addresses the state of art of Wind Energy Technology from the point of view of the applications on wind simulation and characterisation, Built Environment Wind Energy Technology (BWT) advances, ON- and OFFSHORE projects and the social acceptance of WET installations.

This DVD contains the lectures of the participants in the Copenhagen conference which took place on 13-15 May 2009.
